The Middle East Review of International Affairs (MERIA) is a peer-reviewed journal that represents a new approach to the study of the modern Middle East. MERIA reaches over 25,000 readers in more than 100 countries, serving a high-level audience of Middle East experts, scholars, teachers, students, officials, journalists, and people intensely interested in the region.
MERIA is a project owned and edited by Prof. Barry Rubin. It is produced in conjunction with the Global Research in International Affairs (GLORIA) Center. Our goal is to advance research on the Middle East and to foster scholarly communication and cooperation. We are a non-partisan publication involving people across the geographical and political spectrum.
We have also published several books in print drawing on MERIA articles and authors. The first of these books is Turkey in World Politics: An Emerging Multi-Regional Power edited by Barry Rubin and Kemal Kirisci (Lynne Rienner: 2001.) Another is Contemporary Islamist Movements in the Middle East edited by Barry Rubin (State University of New York, SUNY Press, 2003.) Forthcoming books include Iraq After Saddam (M.E. Sharpe, forthcoming) and the Global Survey of Islamism (M.E. Sharpe, forthcoming).
All MERIA materials are distributed at no charge. MERIA News and MERIA Journal are archived permanently on our homepage.
MERIA is indexed in several places, including:
