A Modest Proposal: Where Are Our "Top Officials"?

According to the Boston Globe,* a group of "top officials" have proposed the United States open a dialogue with Hamas. And who are these "top officials"?
That's quite a bunch of foreign policy experts! They include:
--Thomas Pickering who led the charge for crazed conspiracy theorist Charles (just because the Saudi royal family pays my bills doesn't mean I'm not more loyal to America than you!) Freedman. He is also on the board of the Tehran front group, the American-Iranian Council
-- Didn't James Wolfensohn learn from his dialogue with Hamas over those greenhouses he bought for them and they trashed to make into rockets?
--Theodore Sorenson hasn't been heard from since about the time of the Kennedy assassination,
--Former senator Chuck Hagel led the why withdraw from Iraq when you can surrender immediately school,
--Paul Volcker and Carla Hills, who never had anything to do with foreign policy and very probably couldn't find any Middle East countries on a map.
--Lee Hamilton, probably the most overrated "expert" on the region in history.
--The only one I have nothing negative to say about is former senator Nancy Kassebaum Baker
What a group! Again, these people have no influence and if this is the best that could be done for such a proposition, it shows how unpopular it is in the foreign policy circles that matter.
Why are so many people so eager to sell out to the murderers? How about someone organizes a group of former "top officials" who favor a policy to: oppose Hamas and Hizballah, save Lebanon from Syrian-Iranian control, support the tribunal investigating Syrian involvement in terrorist acts in Lebanon, and build a regional alliance opposing the Iran-Syria bloc?
