From an article in the Lebanese Daily Star: In response to the book “Nazis, Islamists, and the Making of the Modern Middle East” by Barry Rubin and Wolfgang G. Lying About Israel

Hamas mural in West Bank

About 10-20 slanders (at least) are issued against Israel each day. They are frequently complete fabrications and from academia, media, or accusations mostly made up out of whole cloth. Lying is either simply reported irresponsibly or with participation in the "big lie." Institutions and personal careers are benefitted by such moves. Last month, a former Canadian ambassador–who seems to have been earning a living entirely on the misrepresentation of Israel–made a horrifying announcement. … [Read more...]

Why Most of the Mass Media Can’t Report Honestly on Israel—or Other Middle East Issues

Why Most of the Mass Media Can't Report Honestly on Israel—or Other Middle East IssuesI was actually astonished at how this column was even more valid than it was when it was first written. See if you agree:Underlying any other factor regarding attitudes toward Israel in the Media-University-Government (MUG) complex  is the programmatic and ideological problem faced in honestly understanding and explaining Israel's behavior. To report truthfully would require comprehending and … [Read more...]

New York Times Endorses Genocide

Oh no! Chuckle. The New York Times now favors the extinction of the Jewish state. Shudder. Let’s see. Sulzburger fought in the Confederate army; then the newspaper virtually ignored the Ukrainian famine and the Holocaust, then reported that Fidel Castro was a moderate, then reported Islamist terrorists are moderates. That’s a pretty accurate record right? The headline of this article is accurateLook, I know the author of the one-state solution article and I can tell you he’s been … [Read more...]

Supporting the “Peace Process” and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt: Misinformation

There's an Arab proverb that goes like this: When an enemy extends his hand to you cut it off. If you can't, kiss it. Who do you think is being classified as the cutting or the kissing treatment today?     In contrast to the let's-empower-our enemies approach, two of the best Middle East expert journalists in the world have just written from different perspectives on the real Middle East and the results are refreshing. But in other media the odds are fixed at four to one … [Read more...]

America’s Real “Dangerous Slide” Is to Be on the Wrong Side in the World

Would you ever imagine that the leading American newspaper would openly advocate siding with Islamist forces in the Middle East against all of America's allies and friends, and I mean with eyes wide open and with full awareness that it sought to overthrow them? Well, the day has come. How has the argument for this strategy, which the Obama Administration, is already pursuing, being made? A New York Times July 30th editorial entitled “Egypt’s Dangerous Slide” shows a real … [Read more...]

A BBC-Watch site accuses a BBC journalist of cribbing from one of my articles: Yesterday I praised Paul Danahar for his realistic and reasoned analysis of the situation in Syria and compared it favourably against the efforts of Mark Mardell whose reports seem coloured by his admiration for Obama. But I was looking at this which was published on the 3rd of May on ‘Jonathan Spyer’ (A well known blog that analyses the Middle East): Is Assad Winning? What is striking about it is just … [Read more...]

Why the “Arab Peace Initiative” is Both a Good Thing and a Scam

There’s something very strange about this alleged new Arab League peace initiative and I find no serious addressing of these issues in the media coverage. A step toward efforts by Arab states to move toward proposing a possible peace with Israel is a good thing. Especially touted is an idea, mentioned by Qatar’s representative at the Washington meeting, to accept an agreement that small border modifications could be made to the pre-1967 lines. Yet there are a lot of unaddressed points … [Read more...]
